The Ward Cemetery is located in section 11 of White Oak Township in the southwest portion of Harrison County. From Bethany, go west on highway 136 for approximately four miles to the second gravel road to the right. Turn right (north) and go two miles to the second gravel road intersection. Turn right (east). The single stone is just east of the road near the intersection.
The story of the Ward Cemetery is that a man was traveling through the area in a covered wagon when he died around 1860. His coffin was made from the boards of his wagon and the horses were sold to buy a stone to mark the grave. The stone is now down and broken, and is located in a cattle pasture.
