QUEENS CEMETERY, HARRISON COUNTY, MO


The Queens Cemetery is located in section 6 of Fox Creek Township in eastern Harrison County. From Bethany, go approximately eight miles east on Highway 136 and turn right (north) on East 190th Avenue (gravel). Go approximately one mile north. The graveyard is in the middle of the section on the west (left) side of the road.

There are no recorded burials for this graveyard and the names have now been lost. Area history records that it is the family graveyard of the Queen family and was started in the 1870s. No headstones exist, but the graveyard is surrounded by a 4' stone wall.

The only family residing in Harrison County in the 1870s was that of Johnston Queen and his wife, Acenith. They are listed in the 1870 Census of Fox Creek Township, Harrison County, Missouri as follows:

Johnston and five of his children (Martha, Eliza, Sarah, John and Melissa) are listed in the 1880 Census of Fox Creek Township in Harrison County. Johnston is identified as a "Widower".
